Containers for Change is Queensland’s official container refund scheme, launched to address one of the state’s biggest waste issues: drink containers. Although small, these bottles and cans make up a substantial portion of litter found in local waterways, bushland, parks, and along our beaches.
To tackle this waste problem, the program provides a 10-cent refund for every eligible drink container returned through one of the many designated drop-off points across Queensland. These include:
Plastic bottles
Aluminium cans
Glass drink bottles
Popper juice cartons
Steel cans
All eligible containers are clearly marked with the “10c refund” logo.
